I have a miniature lemon tree in my studio, and my husband had always wanted an orange tree. So, when we finally built a greenhouse (very useful in this mountainous desert, land of short growing seasons and below-freezing winters), he got his wish!
It smelled wonderful when it bloomed, and the white flowers contrasted beautifully with the glossy green leaves. I chose to focus on this contrast, as well as the forms of its long, leafy branches in celebrating its spring growth. I used acrylic paint on canvas to create it.
